Days like today

Stir my soul from within

Opening my eyes to His presence

Breathe

Take it all in

It’s hard not to wonder

Where my heart’s been

Lost in worldly striving

That can never be won

Preoccupied and prayerless

So much to get done

As my eyes turn away

The fog creeps back in

Distorting my vision

Hiding my sin

It’s hard not to wander

Oh where my heart’s been

I hear His whisper

Child, please be still

All your running

All your striving

Is so far from My will

I’m the One who sees you

I’m knocking

Please let Me in

I know where you are

I know where you’ve been

It’s hard not to wander

Lord, please forgive me again

So much time wasted

The days rush by

Choosing to live for this world

When He chose to die

So my wandering could cease

And my heart could be home

No longer empty

No longer alone

It’s hard not to wonder
